WEEK 9: FIELD WORKS IN IIUM CAMPUS OBSERVATION

Assalamualaikum and Hi!

I know that time flies like an arrow but i'm not expecting to be this fast and furious. It's already week 9 and 5 more weeks to go to the final semester. Also new week, new blog!

For today I'll share about my sustainable green university that will always has a special place in my heart. As we aware that sustainable development initiative is very crucial to implement in ensuring the well-being and health of the world. Therefore, wherever we go, whatever the situation is, we are in charge and accountable to make change or improvement to our surrounding.

IIUM certainly has gone through so many Sustainable Development goals execution. I've seen some of them and more to explore. The first impression when i came in IIUM is how excellent the university in taking care of greenery environment. Even there is so many trees and plants like it seems hard to manage, but it is not. The adjacent within the border is just amazing. Also, there is a huge area of recycling dustbin in front of Mahallah Ameenah and other Mahallah too. The natural aesthetic attraction which is Friends of Sungai Pusu at the center of the university that free from any pollution, dirty and super clean. It is well managed because the responsibility of the rehabilitation of the river not only on the hand of the campus's authority but all the residents who live in.

In addition, the emphasis of Sustainable Development element is all over the academic subject. Regardless of departments, it serves as a required university knowledge that we as a Muslim has to know in order to preserve our world from any harm. By this way, the sense of responsibility will sustain in the heart of the students thus will embark an urge contribution to achieve the goals. For instance, by tasking assignment or project that relates with the SDGs elements and must be performed realistically.

To be conclude, this is actually the balance of life, a dream Islamic environment that we must pursue. We should not view this as a burden but an easement. These goals is what make our world healthier and free from discrimination or inequality.

I really like how you describe IIUM environment especially "Even there is so many trees and plants like it seems hard to manage, but it is not." Sometimes you don't really care about your surrounding until someone points it out ❤️

  2. Hi leya! thanks to your blog i get to know more about the beauty of IIUM environment. Yeah I agree that we should apply all the possible initiative that can contribute to SDG at wherever we are. I once went to IIUM for work things and I saw SDG signs and project are everywhere. I like the culture there that shows how detailed the institution in culminating the goals.

  3. As a students of IIUM, i could see the wisdom reasonable behind the UNGS 1201 subject that required for all the students to take it. It makes me realise that my responsibilities as a muslim cannot be taken lightly and must do it with determination and purify intention.
