WEEK 7: CHALLENGES TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

Assalamualaikum and Hi everyone!
In this week's topic, i will be sharing three big aspects on the challenges to sustainable development and the initiatives that we can make to overcome it. The recognition of the challenges for me is important so that we can create an excellent and pragmatic idea to overcome it.

Environmental aspects

What is climate change? climate change is the change in the environmental conditions of the earth. This happens because of human activities, or natural processes itself. Because of this change, it has threatened the food production or the availability of it and human health affected due to severe heat of global warming,  rising sea levels, declining water supplies and water quality could suffer, floods happened, extinction threat and many more. These  are the restrictions or challenges to reach the balance in sustaining development goals.

How do we want to overcome these issues? One of it is hands off from the steering. Why should we bother driving by ourself to go everywhere and will only give us tired. we should switch from using private car to public transportation or car pool (sharing a car). By this small effort, we could save our earth. It is because it can reduce air pollution so that it will be aligned with environmental requirements and lower their carbon footprint. Besides, human need to consume less. The easiest way to cut back on greenhouse gas emissions is simply to buy less things. Such as by using a reusable grocery bag, cutting back on consumption. If we consume less, we will waste less and enjoy our life more.

According to Islam, containing the harm is priority. Caring for the environment and taking action to minimize and even reverse climate change must be considered obligatory  individuals, organizations, and governments.

Economic and Social aspects

In economy aspect, human need to achieve sustainable economy. However, the barrier present brings difficulties to achieve it. For example, the corruption that happen among the leader, exploitation desire on people's wealth, the greediness, the ignorance of the government in helping the needy and so forth.  If this problem is neglected, it will produce injustice and discrimination. In social perspective, the challenge can be the difficulties in getting financial stability and lack governance of the authority in providing sufficient and well being for the people.

Islamic perspective
Therefore, there are several issues with sustainable development that might be resolved in this nation if the Islamic worldview were to be adopted. Islam has provided a comprehensive guidelines and assistance in implementing and overcome all the issue in the Quran and hadith. It is the responsibilities of the human to explore and realize it to the world.

  1. I agree with you statement about reducing plastic bag consumption while going to the grocery store. Especially, when we buy only two or three items, I think the best solution is we just have to hold them on our hands without a plastic bag.

  2. This blog provides excellent examples such as sharing car and consume less. The examples given are practical which we can be used in our daily life. You really takes Mahatma Gandhi's words quite serious, “be the change you wish to see in the world”

  3. When i read your blog, it makes me feels eager to be the leader of the country to fix what are not rights and sufficients to the well being of the people and the world. The challenges are mostly because the greediness and selfish behavior of the vicegerent in fulfilling their own interest without thinkinh others.
