Image
Assalamualaikum and meet again! Before today's class started, Dr asked us about how was our journey during the Holy month of Ramadhan. For me, it was very challenging and fun. I spend my time a lot on rectify to Allah SWT. Did a lot of reading Quran, pray on time and help my friends.  Also, in today's lesson, it more likely about the historical of factors that driven emergence of sustainable development to be established. We learned that Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is a transition from Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). What have changed from the previous terms is MDGs specifically main focus on the poverty with the objective to increase the standard of living. It emphasizes on three areas which are human capital, infrastructure and human rights. MDGs stresses on the responsibility of developed countries     (United Nation) to assist and aid developing countries. WEEK 3 : MAQASID SHARIAH SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Assalamualaikum and hi everyone!      This week topic is what can we relate Sustainable Development with Maqasid Shariah? From my understanding, the definition of Maqasid Shariah is to protect and preserve the well-being of the society or public interest( maslahah). The element of Maqasid Shariah is the protection of life, religion, intellect, wealth and lineage. Whereas SDGs is a goals that we have to achieved in a mean and a way to help us to reach the objectives of Maqasid Syariah. In order to protect our wealth, we have to avoid any prohibited action that will harm ourself and cause difficulty to others. For example, bribery, theft, gambling, the elements of usury(riba') in transaction, the unethical behavior in managing the money of others, persecution the right of others, injustice and so on. Sustainability in Islam refers to "consumer welfare, economic efficiency, social fairness, and ecological balance in the framework of an evolutionary knowledge-based, socially interactive paradigm that defines the Shuratic process." In attaining the sustainable development objectives, human must preserve and maintain their relation with these 3 pillars : Relationship with Allah Relationship with human being Relationship with the environment Islam and environmental sustainability      The right to benefit from nature is inextricably tied to accountability and the preservation or protection of the resources. The legal principle established by the Prophet Muhammad is that ' the benefit of a thing is in return for the liability attached to it' .Human ignorance of God's commandments is a major contri...

WEEK 1 : INTRODUCTION TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Image
Assalamuaalaikum everyone! For this week, the first question that helps us to understand what is Sustainable Development really is of course ' What happened in current development?'. This question I think is actually quite similar to ' What did you do today?' The point here is do we realize what our hands have done to the world. Was it beneficial for the future or make it worst.      I remembered when Sir mentioned Maryam lake. I feel  interested to talk about it because lake is one of my favorite healing spot. I like the smell of the trees, the greenery and few people. However, some question would come across my mind whenever I'm thinking about the fate of these beautiful creatures. What would happen if we didn't protect and preserve them? What if we put a blind eye on the excessive development on nature in the focus to achieve the economic goals? What would be the future generation's story if they become extinct?      ...
